If this man Obama can deliver 10% of what he says this world will be a thousand times a better place to live. I have a funny feeling that he will deliver a lot more than 10%, and not so much that he will deliver, but he will make all of us deliver, not by threat… but by hope. His policies and ideals are fantastic, but the most important thing that he has going for him and all of us humans is that he has a brilliant way of bringing everyone together and keeping them together
for the common good.
He is inheriting two serious wars and a nearly bankrupt economy. You could say that the only way is “up” for him, but I believe that the misguided gentleman they call Mr Bush singlehandedly f*cked up the whole world in 8 years, and I also believe that Obama will put this right in the next eight years, starting from today, even though he doesn’t take office until january. He simply understands the need for belief in the human race above all else and will make the world understand that any other way, regardless of legislation, wars, bullying, just won’t work. He will bring the best out in people and believes in fairness and equality, unless he’s a total bluffer, which I doubt.
I think that his biggest monumental challenge will come in January when he will have to find a way to thank Mr Bush for his time and effort as president without beating him around the head with a blackthorn stick collected from some ditch in the back and beyonds of Ireland, on the way home from a few pints of Guinness, in the dark of night, with the rain pissing down on him singing “A Nation Once Again” in three different keys!!!
It won’t be easy for the world economy, but today is the slow start from the bottom for sure upwards and onwards. And good luck to you, Obama.

It is once in a generation that something like this happens.
The comparisons to JFK have already begun as Catholic politicians at the time in the USA were the ‘blacks’ and nobody expected John F Kennedy to get into office but he did.
He tried to shake up the old establishment and we all saw what happened to him.
I really fear for Obama’s life because when people get hungry, they will not wait for slow gracious solutions and liberal ideas, they will revolt and vote in a right wing maniac who will get them some work and some food, i.e. the German Nazi party in the 1930s.
The world is full of hope at the minute, but hope is no substitute for intelligence and there are a lot of very very thick people walking around this planet at the minute, what will America think of Obama in 2 years when things have gotten worse?? ..and they will get worse, people are still living off past earnings.
All the spin doctors on the far right will be able to make Obama look ten times worse than Bush ever did.
48% ..i have to repeat that as it is hilarious ..48% still voted for an under educated pensioner (McCain) and a soccer mom from hell (Palin) to lead the US and to avoid moving into unchartered territory, now the word on the Republican street (i know as my cousin in Atlanta is a republican) is that all the ‘Queers’, pot smoking students, ‘niggers’ and hispanics won the election for Obama and that he represents them and not the hard working majority.
This is frightening and makes me wish that Hilary Clinton had won.
As it would have saved a great mans life (Mr. Obama) and would have stopped a potential civil war in America once the funds completely run out in 2 years.
I hope history does not repeat itself.
Obama still has to prove himself over the next 4 years, it is a challenge that 99.99999% of the people in this world could not even attempt, but can he do it?
..yes, he can.
First of all Rory and Cara,I believe, congradulations are in order to you both. Here’s to you both for the future.
It crossed my mind that Obama should be locked away in a fortress with his family, and run the states from there. No touring or public appearances, and any one that needs to see him, should be going to him, rather then the other way around. This sounds extreme, but we REALY need this man to live,as a human race, and with technology,he has plenty of ways to comunicate with his nation, and the world, with out moving anywhere.
Second of all,I think,if he gets his policys in action fast, the tide might turn in a year, and not two years. When he puts proper control on the big corporate banks etc etc, people will see that the wealth of the world, will be distributed more evenly.Yes,they will drive smaller cars, and yes their property will drop in value, and yes they will work a little harder, but they will have much better real lifes, and they will be more comfortable knowing that their lifes are based on reality, and not on false illusions of false created wealth, which is all borrowed.
Despite the fact that they have smaller cars, and cheaper property,at least they will know that no institution is coming to take these basic requirments away from them, because they will only be able to borrow, what they can afford.
I agree with Rory, and think if this man survives, despite the fact that things may get a little more difficult in the short term,he will come through the other side, and bring everyone with him,and yes it is unbelievable that 48% voted for the other pair of clowns. You know,it’s more then unbelievable,it’s f/cking frightning.Let’s hope that Obama can convince the most of that 48%,that his policys are far better in time.
I have often thought, that given the fact that the president of the usa,at least for now,is the most powerfull man in the world, and given that fact, the population of the world should have a vote in a u.s election.Of course,it’s not practical, but it makes sense, and then for sure mccain, would be lucky to get 10%,and no where near 48%
