Rory & the Island is the group name set up in 2010 by Rory Gallagher from Donegal. The current line up includes David “Shaky” Shakespeare from Dublin who in the past drummed for top Irish indie band “Juno Falls”, the amazingly talented Albert Serrano from Barcelona on lead guitar and banjo, the mighty Pedro Ruiz on bass, and of course the legendary Claudio from Brazil on the bongos. Charlie´s regulars will of course remember Shaky and Pedro from “Skin and Hide”.

Unbelievably, despite not doing a major nationwide tour, Rory & the Island have had five Top 40 chart singles on iTunes in Ireland in 2011.

Rory was the lead singer and founder of “The Revs”, a rock band who had great success in Ireland in the early 2000′s, notching up two Top 5 albums and playing Slane and the Oxegen Festival main stage 4 times.

Rory & the Island play a fine mixture of original and cover music to offer something different to all music lovers on holiday in Lanzarote. Feel free to send up requests from the likes of U2, Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon, Horslips, Bruce Springsteen et all – but maybe avoid “Brown Eyed Girl” or “Alice” unless you want to get attacked by Shaky the drummer!
